My mom has Alsheimer's Diseas and lives in an independent living community with six hours a day of in-home help. It is a great comfort that there is an alarm button by her bed and in the bathrooms and kitchen that she can call for help 24-7. If you are choosing a place for you parent to live and they refuse an assisted living community and isist upon independent living as long as humanly possible- make sure the community has the alarm buttons! Most independent living communities that have an assisted living section have these buttons in the independent section. Mom seems to be able to remember the button.. and used it once when she fell. Sleep better knowing your parent has a call button! I do!
